The Animals is an American animated television comedy soap opera produced by Procter & Gamble Animation and created by D.A. Nichols for Disney Channel. The show is set in a fictional town called AnimalVille. First broadcast on September 16, 1983, the show was originally broadcast as half-hour episodes, before expanding to one-hour episodes on January 5, 1990. The series aired its 9,000th episode on March 15, 2018.
This is also Disney Channel's longest-running series to date, and the fourth longest-running soap opera from Disney, behind All My Children, One Life to Live, and General Hospital.
As of 2019, The Animals remains as the last remaining P&G produced show after As the World Turns left in September 2010.
